Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world... and the imprints that attach to their killers.
Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.
Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer... and becoming his prey herself.
The first thing about this book was the cover. I think it's beautiful.
Violet has a special "power".She can sense the dead, especielly the ones who were murdered. When she was 8 years old, she found her first human body. Then 8 years later she finds another one.She starts to help the investigation, but because of that she finds herself against the murderer.
She has other problems too. She starts to have feelings for her best friend,Jay.
I loved the whole story, because it's different than the YA stories these days. Also the romance in this book is so sweet...I'd like to have a boyfriend like Jay.The other characters are sympathic and funny too. I just love Chelsea.:D
"I swear that boy can't function without you, not even at lunch."
"I've been so worried about strange men following you around that I forgot how dangerous Homecoming Queens can be."

Violet can sense the echoes of those who've been murdered—and the matching imprint that clings to their killers. Only those closest to her know what she is capable of, but when she discovers the body of a young boy she also draws the attention of the FBI, threatening her entire way of life.
As Violet works to keep her morbid ability a secret, she unwittingly becomes the object of a dangerous obsession. Normally she'd turn to her best friend, Jay, except now that they are officially a couple, the rules of their relationship seem to have changed. And with Jay spending more and more time with his new friend Mike, Violet is left with too much time on her hands as she wonders where things went wrong. But when she fills the void by digging into Mike's tragic family history, she stumbles upon a dark truth that could put everyone in danger.

This is the second book from this author. The story starts where the first book ended.Jay and Violet are together, they couldn't be happier.
Then a new family move in to Buckley and strange things start to happen. First Violet finds a new body. Then the FBI starts to follow her.And also someone threats her.She got a special gift and a letter.
Violet suspects that Mike's sister Megan is trying to get Jay and she is the one, who send her messages. She tells that to Jay, but he doesn't believe her. They have a huge fight, they broke up.
Luckily they get together again. She talks with the FBI women, who is actually not from the FBI ,just sort of.
At the end Violet and her friends go for a trip in the mountains(Mike's family has a house there). The only problem is that Violet finds another body and again like in the previous book she finds herself against a murderer.
Also again there are our favorite characters like Chelsea...she's amazing.:D:D
"Chelsea, for the love of everything good and holy, please...please stop ruining my friend."
"I was wrong. I should have never doubted you. I do trust you. I love you, and I can't do this anymore. I don't want to be..." He struggled to find the right words. "...without you." And then, finally, his arms slackened, releasing her, giving her the choice again. She felt his shoulders slump, and his heart shudder. "Please..."
I'm really looking forward to the next book. These two were so exciting.
